New Loop History
The New Loop is busling with hot spots and world-class cultural events.

A Little History
You'll find a diverse and vibrant community in the New Loop that includes Greektown, Randolph Street Market, Harpo Studios, UIC and the West Loop Gate galleries. Many carefully restored nineteenth-century homes in the area stand as testimony to Chicago's notable families who once resided here. The warehouse district attracted many Italians and Greeks who worked in the fruit and vegetable markets on Randolph Street. They built Greektown and Little Italy, communities rich in culture and history that still thrive.

The New Loop Today
Today, city lovers have remade the New Loop into a youthful, hip neighborhood by moving into the warehouses now renovated into lofts and condos. Retailers and merchants such as Walgreen's, Dominick's, Fifth-Third Bank, Starbucks, White Hen and others have followed to attend to residents' everyday needs.

Emerald residents will further enliven an area that is already active and diverse. You’ll be just a few blocks from Restaurant Row on Randolph Street. Plus, the financial district, Loop offices, Millennium Park and Mag Mile shopping are within an easy walk from Emerald.

The developers, renowned for invigorating neighborhoods with positive energy and a sense of belonging, carefully integrated Emerald into its surroundings with ample landscaping and street-level retail along Halsted Street, which conceals the parking garage. The shops at Emerald, which include Fifth Third Bank and Starbucks, provide convenient options to grab a bite, drop off dry cleaning or do banking.
